Jeff Vinik's Real Estate Firm Hires New Company To Handle Parking At Amalie Arena

Lightning Owner Jeff Vinik's real estate venture has hired Dallas-based parking company ParkHub "to handle lots during games, concerts and other events at Amalie Arena," according to Richard Danielson of the TAMPA BAY TIMES. ParkHub Founder & CEO George Baker said the company's cloud-based software and handheld readers will create "more payment options and less time in line." Danielson notes time "wasted in slow-moving lines of cars is something Vinik and his partners are thinking about as they create a plan for Strategic Property Partners' 40 acres near the arena." The company said that by using ParkHub's products, attendants "will be able to take credit card payments, track cash and validate bar codes or QR codes from parking reservations purchased in advance." Parking operators also "can manage personnel more efficiently and adjust prices on the fly based on supply and demand." ParkHub "will be used at the arena but not for daily parking at any other Strategic Property Partners-controlled venues, including the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina" (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 11/25).

EASY SHOPPING
: In Tampa, Ashley Gurbal Kritzer noted the Lightning have "partnered with Chase to offer Apple Pay at all retail locations and concession venues for home games." Chase is a "major Lightning sponsor." Lightning CEO Steve Griggs in a statement said that the new payment option is "part of an ongoing initiative to make the 'game-experience as easy and fun as possible'" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 11/25).
