The Canadian Olympic Committee promoted interim President TRICIA SMITH to the position full time after she previously had served as VP since '09. COC BOD members chose between Smith and lawyer PETER LAWLESS, who will "continue to serve the organization" as VP. Smith is a former Olympian and an "award-winning high performance coach" who has served the COC "in various capacities for over 30 years" (CP, 11/22).

ON WHAT GROUNDS?: The Pirates "recently fired" PNC Park Dir of Field Operations MANNY LOPEZ, who "had been with the organization for 22 years." No other members of the ballpark's grounds crew "were released." A team spokesperson said that the move "was not motivated by an incident in July when a worker was swallowed by the tarp" (PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW, 11/21).

SCOUTING REPORT: The Pirates named Blue Jays National Amateur Crosschecker MIKE MANGAN Assistant Dir of Amateur Scouting (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 11/21)....The Indians promoted Assistant Dir of Baseball Operations MATT FORMAN to Dir of Baseball Operations, Senior Analyst SKY ANDRECHECK to Senior Dir of Baseball Research & Development and Dir of Baseball Analytics KEITH WOOLNER to Principal Data Scientist for Baseball Analytics. The club also promoted the following within their Amateur Scouting department: WILLIAM HUGHES to Senior Advisor for Amateur Scouting; SCOTT MEANEY to National Crosschecker; CLINT LONGENECKER to Coordinator; and MARK ALLEN to Pitching Crosschecker and Short-Season Pitching Coach; JON HEUERMAN. The Indians also named JASON SMITH, MIKE SOPEER and BRAD TYLER Regional Supervisors; and STEFFAN SEGUIMIKE KANEN and DAVID COMPTON to Area Supervisors in Central Florida, the Northeast, and North Florida/Southern Louisiana, respectively (Indians).

EXECS: Learfield Sports named Triple-A Int'l League Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders VP/Partnerships MIKE TRUDNAK Bucknell Sports Properties GM. Trudnak has served 12 seasons in senior-level positions for the RailRiders (Learfield)....Turnkey Sports & Entertainment named Jack Morton Worldwide Senior Manager of Strategic Planning & Analytics SEIF OSMAN Senior Research Dir and Learfield Sports Partnership Services Coordinator for UMass DEMI STALUPPI Manager of Client Services. Turnkey also named KYLE BROWN Recruiting Associate (THE DAILY)....Clark Atlanta Univ. named Elizabeth City State Univ. interim AD LIN DAWSON AD (CAU).
