Sanderson Farms Extends Title Sponsorship Of Mississippi PGA Tour Event Through '26

Mississippi-based poultry producer Sanderson Farms Inc. will "remain the title sponsor of Jackson's PGA Tour event for at least another 10 years," according to a front-page piece by Hugh Kellenberger of the Jackson CLARION-LEDGER. The agreement for the Sanderson Farms Championship goes through '26, and PGA Tour Exec VP & Chief of Operations Andy Pazder said that it is the "longest PGA Tour sponsorship deal" on the books. Kellenberger noted that is a "dramatic change for the event, which has had four title sponsors in the last 10 years." Sanderson Farms in '13 signed a one-year deal before agreeing to a subsequent three-year contract. The event that tees off today is the "second one in that deal." The tourney is "expected to remain in the fall ... for at least the foreseeable future," held opposite the WGC-HSBC Champions event in China. The title sponsorship extension for Sanderson Farms CEO & Chair John Sanderson Jr. is "as much about the golf ... as it is the resulting charity work." The tourney last year generated $1.4M for charity, with $1.1M "going to Friends of Batson's Children's Hospital and the other $300,000 to other Mississippi charities" (Jackson CLARION-LEDGER, 11/5).
