NFL, Fantasy Football Help ESPN Set New ComScore Unique User Record In September

ESPN in September set a new comScore sports category record with 94.4 million unique users in multiplatform digital reach, a total fueled in part by the return of the NFL regular season and fantasy football. The figure, a marked reversal from a relative decline for ESPN over the summer, was the 19th consecutive month it has led the category, and the third straight September it has set a new comScore record. The prior high-water mark was ESPN's 93.97 million uniques in January of this year. ESPN has now set five new reach marks since June '14. Its consumption figures of 109.3 average minutes per user and 10.3 billion minutes of total time spent were also new category marks. The NFL continued its own seasonal jump, adding more than 12 million uniques from its August total and rising to third on the list in September with 63.8 million uniques. College sports and recruiting destination 24/7 Sports, part of CBS Sports' digital rollup, also extended its recent tear, setting a new company mark with 18.1 million uniques, more than 3 million uniques ahead of its prior record set just the month before.
