Sounders Unveil "Halo 5"-Themed Jerseys For Sunday's Match As Part Of Microsoft Deal

The Sounders on Sunday will wear "'Halo 5: Guardians'-themed jerseys when they take on the Western Conference-leading Galaxy" in a nationally televised match at CenturyLink Field, according to Stephen Cohen of SEATTLEPI.com. The debut of the black kits, which the team and the Microsoft-owned Xbox brand unveiled Tuesday, will mark the first time the Sounders have "worn anything other than their 'Rave Green' jerseys for an MLS regular season home game." It will also be the "first time an MLS club will alter its jerseys for a mid-season match." The team will also "wear limited edition pre-match training tops, custom-made with Sounders FC and Halo 5: Guardians branding." Sunday's match is the "only opportunity that fans have to buy the jersey, with a limited supply of 200 available for purchase at the CenturyLink Field Pro Shop" (SEATTLEPI.com, 9/29). GEEKWIRE.com's Taylor Soper noted 20,000 fans at Sunday's match will "receive a commemorative Halo 5 and Sounders FC t-shirt." Fans can also "check out a life-size Warthog vehicle in the Soccer Celebration pre-game activity zone." Finally, "Halo 5" characters Master Chief and Spartan Locke will be "roaming around the stadium throughout Sunday’s match" (GEEKWIRE.com, 9/29).
