Can-Am Replacing Budweiser As Title Sponsor For NASCAR's Daytona 500 Qualifiers

The two Daytona 500 qualifying races starting next year will be known as the Can-Am Duel at Daytona, as the ATV and motorcycle manufacturer's parent company, Bombardier Recreational Products, secured entitlement to the Thursday NASCAR Sprint Cup races (Can-Am). In Daytona Beach, Ken Willis noted Can-Am replaces Budweiser as title sponsor of the races, which are set to be part of the "first Speedweeks played out in front of the fully renovated grandstands" at Daytona Int'l Speedway. The official name of the qualifiers has "changed several times due to sponsor ties." They have been officially known as the UNO Twin 125s ('81-84), 7-Eleven Twins ('85-87), Gatorade Twin 125s and simply Gatorade 125s ('91-'04), Gatorade Duel ('05-12) and Budweiser Duel ('13-15). BRP was formerly part of Canada-based aircraft manufacturer Bombardier, which "once spent sponsorship money" at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and on IndyCar (Daytona Beach NEWS-JOURNAL, 9/19).
