NBC/Golf Channel analyst MARK ROLFING "has been diagnosed with salivary gland cancer and will not be part" of the nets' broadcasts for the rest of the year. He "had surgery three weeks ago to remove a malignant growth from his left cheek area." Rolfing said that he is "starting a second phase of treatment at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for this rare form of cancer." He added that his doctors "are confident the cancer will be cured after the second phase of treatment" (AP, 9/3).

FASHION POLICE: At the U.S. Open on Tuesday, "a war ... raged in the posh President’s Suite of Arthur Ashe Stadium over its dress code" between USTA BOD Chair, President & CEO KATRINA ADAMS and the host of a charity event, STEVE OSMAN, "who says Adam has 'a faded-jeans fetish.'" Osman said that he, his mom and a friend "were asked to leave," and that he "wasn't informed of the no-jeans rule." He said, "(Adams) got nasty. She said, 'It's my rules!'" (N.Y. POST, 9/3).

The program for adults "is called 'I PROMISE, Too.'"
