Buyers & Sellers: Roddick Sells L.A. Home; Buffalo Home Stays With Sabres Player

Former tennis player ANDY RODDICK "swiftly sold" his L.A. home for nearly $3.34M. He and his wife, model/actress BROOKLYN DECKER, "who live primarily in Austin," bought the house in '13 for $2.793M (WSJ.com, 9/3).

PLAY AT HOME: Tigers 1B MIGUEL CABRERA "could be the new owner" of a $3.2M lakefront mansion in Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., as a "six-bedroom, 11,175-square-foot house overlooking Lake St. Clair sold this week to a company that's linked" to Cabrera. The home, built in '66, sits on 2.5 acres and has a putting green, "garages for eight cars, a swimming pool and a stunning 20-foot-long glass solarium with a marble floor" (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 9/3)....Former MLBer JERMAINE DYE "has put his home in Poway, Calif., on the market" for $4.2M. Dye bought the house in '12 from Cavaliers G MO WILLIAMS for $3.3M. The estate "features a Spanish-style main house, a lagoon-style swimming pool, a basketball half-court, a putting green and a turf field on more than four acres." The master suite "has an adjoining exercise room and steam shower for a total of six bedrooms and eight bathrooms in about 9,200 square feet" (LATIMES.com, 8/31)....Former MLBer JAY GIBBONS has listed his home in Thousand Oaks, Calif., for sale at $2.995M after buying it in '12 for $1.8M. The master suite "sports a soaking tub and a glass-enclosed shower as well as a two-sided fireplace that divides the bedroom and a private sitting room." In all, there are "five bedrooms and six bathrooms within the 5,650 square feet of living space." Outside, there is a batting cage, a pool and a spa "with a waterfall feature" (LATIMES.com, 9/2).

ICE CASTLES: NHL Jets D TYLER MYERS "has sold his mansion" in Buffalo to Sabres C RYAN O'REILLY, who is "one of the newest members" of Myers' former team. Myers "took a modest loss" on the $1.34M sale of the home, which he purchased for $1.42M in September '13 (BUFFALONEWS.com, 9/2)....Blue Jackets D JACK JOHNSON, who "revealed last year that he had filed for bankruptcy as a result of his parents’ wild spending, has divested himself of one Manhattan Beach [Calif.] home and lost another to foreclosure." Johnson "sold a remodeled townhouse in guard-gated Manhattan Village" for $1.3M, or "$350,000 less than the original asking price." In '07, Johnson bought the "1,800-square-foot home" from former NBAer LUKE WALTON for $1.235M. Meanwhile, a second Manhattan Beach home owned by Johnson "was foreclosed on in January and sold at auction" for $2.125M. Property records show he "paid $1,500,015 for the 2,972-square-foot house, which had been extensively updated, in 2011" (LATIMES.com, 9/3).

HUDDLE HOUSE: Chiefs QB ALEX SMITH "has put his home in Monte Sereno, Calif., on the market" for $3.999M. The French Villa-inspired home, built in '10, "features a polished Old World vibe with 100-year-old reclaimed wood beams." Its two floors of living "include a formal dining room, a den/office, a wine refrigerator, four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms in 4,650 square feet of space." A fire ring and a bocce ball court "complete the nearly half-acre setting" (LATIMES.com, 8/31)....Packers LB JULIUS PEPPERS on Tuesday "placed his five-bedroom, 8,000-square-foot house" in Highland Park, Ill., for sale for $2.499M. Peppers paid $1.8M in '10 "to buy the house" from former NBAer and WME agent B.J. ARMSTRONG, who had bought it in '94 for $1.599M (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 9/2).

SIMON SAYS: Golfer DAVIS LOVE III listed his $5.15M home in St. Simons Island, Ga., for sale. The 10,253-square-foot house sits on five acres and "includes a house barn and stable and 354 feet of marsh frontage." Inside "are five bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, formal living spaces and a wine cellar and gym" (GOLF.com, 8/30).
