Players' Tribune Launching Powerade-Branded Video Series As Part Of Multimedia Focus

The Players Tribune, former MLBer Derek Jeter's 10-month-old site, is "furthering its push into digital video with the new series, From Somewhere," its "first branded series" sponsored by Powerade, according to Tim Baysinger of ADWEEK. The first episodes of From Somewhere "will feature four athletes" telling their stories: Red Sox DH David Ortiz, Mercury G Diana Taurasi, Seahawks S Earl Thomas and NYC FC F David Villa. The series debuts with Taurasi on Sept. 2, and a new episode "arrives each of the following three Wednesdays." Each episode "runs six to eight minutes," and Ortiz' segment "will be available in both Spanish and English." The series is "part of a larger video push for The Players Tribune, which already includes the series POV and Singular Focus." Players Tribune President Jaymee Messler said, "Video is a huge focus. In the coming months, we're going to be rolling out even more video content." She added that the site's already-announced partnership with AOL will "result in new video content 'really soon'" (ADWEEK.com, 8/27).
