The NBA has named KIKI VANDEWEGHE Exec VP/Basketball Operations. VanDeWeghe previously was Senior VP/Basketball Operations working under longtime league exec ROD THORN, who this month retired as President of Basketball Operations. VanDeWeghe’s promotion is effective immediately, and he will report to a new president of league operations to be hired following the Sept. 1 departure of JOEL LITVIN. VanDeWeghe joined the league office in April '13 as VP/Basketball Operations and was promoted later in the year (John Lombardo, Staff Writer).

FOREIGN AFFAIRS: A source said that the Dodgers on Monday "parted ways with a significant portion of their international scouting department," including VP/Int'l Scouting BOB ENGLE, Latin America Scouting Coordinator PATRICK GUERRERO, Dominican Republic Scouting Coordinator FRANKLIN TAVERAS, Dir of Int'l & Minor League Relations JOSEPH REAVES, Special Advisor for Int'l Player Performance RAFAEL COLON, Senior Manager of Int'l Scouting HIDENORI SUEYOSHI and Latin America Field Coordinator BRUCE HURST. The club "did not confirm the front-office changes" (MLB.com, 8/18).

EXECS: The Univ. of Akron named former Marquette Univ. AD LARRY WILLIAMS to the same position, replacing TOM WISTRCILL, who in June left to become Learfield Sports Senior VP/University Partnership Group. Williams "will be formally introduced Aug. 5 and officially take over Sept. 1." Williams was most recently an exec with San Diego-based corporate trademark licensing firm Equity Management (CLEVELAND.com, 8/18)....Int'l Speedway Corp. promoted Senior Dir of Partnership Marketing FRANK KELLEHER to Managing Dir and VP/Sales & Marketing. ISC also promoted Senior Dir of Marketing Partnerships T.R. STAPE to Managing Dir of Partnership Sales and Manager of Partnership Strategy JOSH MEEK to Manager of Marketing Insights & Analysis (ISC)....Learfield Sports' New Mexico State Sports Properties named St. Leo Univ. Associate AD/External Operations CHRIS LAHEY GM and former New Mexico State Univ. Promotions Coordinator CATRINA TORRES Manager of Business Development (Learfield).
