Wheels & Deals: Chip Ganassi Racing Lands P&G Brands As New Sponsors

In Cincinnati, Barrett Brunsman noted a new Procter & Gamble sponsorship deal with NASCAR/IndyCar team Chip Ganassi Racing "will promote the Crest brand, which includes toothpaste and Sensi-Stop Strips." P&G "will partner with driver Kyle Larson on the No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro for two NASCAR Xfinity Series races" at Watkins Glen Int'l on Aug. 8 and in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 21. P&G’s Crest brand also "will be an associate partner on the No. 1 Chevrolet SS driven by Jamie McMurray" for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at Watkins Glen and Homestead-Miami. In subsequent years, P&G "will be part of both the NASCAR and IndyCar programs of Chip Ganassi Racing." P&G Senior Communications Manager Kris Parlett "didn’t disclose how much P&G will pay for the multiyear sponsorship" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 8/5).

SHERWIN WILL: In Indianapolis, Anthony Schoettle noted the deal announced last week between Verizon IndyCar Series and Sherwin-Williams "is the latest in a string of new sponsorship pacts the series has forged in the last 18 months, including a title deal with Verizon and agreements with Panasonic, Tag Heuer, Angie's List and Lilly Diabetes and renewals with Chevrolet and Sunoco." Hulman & Co. CRO Jay Frye said the series is "real close" to renewing its deal with Honda as an engine supplier/major sponsor. As the official paint supplier of IndyCar, Sherwin-Williams "will supply paint to all the teams except Team Penske, which has a deal with PPG Industries." Frye said that this part of the deal "will save teams a high five-figure amount annually" (IBJ.com, 8/5).

BACK IN THE SADDLER: MOTORSPORT.com's Jim Utter reported Roush Fenway Racing Xfinity Series driver Elliott Sadler and the sponsor of his team, OneMain Financial, "will move over to JR Motorsports at the conclusion of this season." OneMain since '11 has sponsored Sadler in the Xfinity Series. Sadler, 40, "joined RFR this season after spending the two previous season with Joe Gibbs Racing" (MOTORSPORT.com, 8/3).

ROUNDUP: Front Row Motorsports yesterday announced that driver Chris Buescher's No. 34 Ford will be sponsored by New York-based Bully Hill Vineyards for this weekend's Cheez-It 355 at Watkins Glen (Front Row Motorsports)....NHRA team Jim Dunn Racing yesterday announced a deal with beef-jerky brand Oberto for its Funny Car team (Jim Dunn Racing).
