Attorneys for Saints and Pelicans Owner TOM BENSON last week argued that the "family hostility" surrounding him and his "jilted heirs isn't enough for a court to prevent the 87-year-old billionaire from controlling his only surviving child's trust fund, including cutting off $10,000 monthly payments" to RENEE BENSON, who is suing her father. Benson's lawyers are "appealing a San Antonio judge's decision in February to temporarily remove Tom Benson as trustee over a Texas trust fund that holds interests in Lone Star Capital Bank, real estate and Benson car dealerships in the San Antonio area." Renee Benson is "seeking to have her father permanently removed" (NOLA.com, 7/31).

TAKING ACTION: At least $13.5M of the $20M raised by Wisconsin Gov. SCOTT WALKER's "super PAC" in his run for the GOP Presidential nomination "came from just four donors," including the RICKETTS family, which owns the Cubs. Meanwhile, out of the $16M "raised by Conservative Solutions PAC, which is supporting" Sen. MARCO RUBIO (R-Fla.), $12.5M "came from just four donors," including former Eagles Owner NORMAN BRAMAN and ATP/WTA BNP Paribas Open Owner LARRY ELLISON. Texans Owner BOB MCNAIR gave a combined $2.0M to four GOP candidates -- Walker, U.S. Sen. TED CRUZ (R-Texas), U.S. Sen. LINDSEY GRAHAM (R-S.C.) and former Florida Gov. JEB BUSH -- while MLB Giants BOD Chair CHARLES JOHNSON gave a combined $1.0M to Bush, former N.Y. Gov. GEORGE PATAKI and surgeon BEN CARSON (N.Y. TIMES, 8/2). TD Ameritrade Founder JOE RICKETTS and his wife MARLENE gave $5M to Walker, and there also were "smaller donations from the family to other GOP presidential hopefuls," including Rubio, Bush and Cruz (JSONLINE.com, 7/31).

NAMES: Bulls C JOAKIM NOAH appears in a new 60-second PSA for Chicago's Major Adams Community Center in which he asks, "Why do you 'rock your drop'?" He then answers, "I rock my drop for the youth." Bears RB MATT FORTE also appears, saying, "I rock my drop to end violence" (SUNTIMES.com, 8/1)....Newseum in DC features a new exhibit, "Nationals at 10: Baseball Makes News," that "highlights the club's short history." The exhibit is "short and sweet," and is "another in a long line of Newseum displays that show sports are, in fact, a big part of news" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 7/31)....Spurs assistant coach BECKY HAMMON yesterday was inducted into the WNBA Liberty's Ring of Honor (ESPN.com, 8/2)....WWE Chief Brand Officer STEPHANIE MCMAHON has been named to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation BOT (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 7/31)....A charity poker tournament at the Mohegan Sun Pocono Casino "raised nearly $58,000 Thursday night, split evenly between the NASCAR Foundation and the Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 8/1)....3M Championship Exec Dir HOLLIS CAVNER is profiled as having helped the event "maintain its standing as a top Champions Tour event." His company, Pro Links Sports Management, "had five Champions events this season" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 8/3)....CONCACAF has brought on Global Strategy Group to "assist with public affairs and communications regarding the confederation's reform efforts" (POLITICO.com, 7/31).
