Univision Boasts Strong Audience Among Young Males For CONCACAF Gold Cup Final

Univision had a strong audience figure among young males for Mexico’s win over Jamaica this past Sunday in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final, according to data from Nielsen Media. Univision’s Spanish-language telecast (7:49-10:18pm ET) performed well among males 18-34 compared to some other more well-known sports events this year to date. Univision drew 1.05 million viewers in the demo for Sunday night’s game, placing it right around the audience for the MLB Home Run Derby on ESPN. But the Univision audience scored above the Boise State-Arizona Fiesta Bowl on ESPN and the series-clinching Blackhawks-Lightning Stanley Cup Final Game 6 on NBC. Still, Univision’s audience ranked below events like the MLB All-Star Game on Fox and NBA All-Star Saturday Night on TNT.

YOUTH MOVEMENT: Univision’s telecast also saw an average age of 34.1 among all viewers, making it one of the younger major sports events on TV. Among other big events -- TNT’s NBA All-Star Game had a median age of 37.9, while the first round of the NFL Draft on ESPN was at 41.3 and the U.S.-Japan FIFA Women’s World Cup Final on Fox was 48.8.
