Lions QB Matthew Stafford appears in a new ad for Dish Network promoting the NFL's Red Zone Channel. Stafford's wife, Kelly, also makes an appearance (THE DAILY). Meanwhile, in Chicago, Blair Sheade noted Colts QB Andrew Luck is the latest QB to star in DirecTV's series of ads for "NFL Sunday Ticket." In the spot, Luck says that if he "wasn’t watching Sunday Ticket on DirecTV, he would spend Sunday at home playing hide-and-seek with his cats." Giants QB Eli Manning and Cowboys QB Tony Romo also appear in this year's campaign (SUNTIMES.com, 7/29).

YIKES, STRIPES: In Portland, Allan Brettman reports adidas "filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Sears Roebuck and Co., accusing the retailer of marketing sneakers whose design looks too much like the German brand's three stripes trademark." adidas "has filed several similar cases in federal court in Portland." The suit "asks that Sears be ordered to destroy any shoes and other materials that are deemed to infringe on the Adidas three-stripes trademark and to pay Adidas triple the profits derived from sale of the offending shoes" (Portland OREGONIAN, 7/30).

HEAVY FUEL: The WALL STREET JOURNAL's Sara Germano reported Nike and Apple have "agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit brought by consumers regarding the efficacy of the Nike+ FuelBand, and will offer partial refunds to people who bought the fitness-tracking device." The lawsuit alleged that the companies "misled consumers about the accuracy of the device." Nike will be "responsible for the settlement payments." Nike Global Corporate Communications Manager Reggie Borges said that the company "remains committed to Nike+ and Nike Fuel" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 7/28).

BRONX BEST: The Yankees for the first time will sell HOPE Week T-shirts, with 100% of the net proceeds going directly to the Yankees Foundation. A limited supply of the shirts will go on sale Tuesday, with a full launch of the shirts taking place at the start of HOPE Week, which runs Aug. 17-21 (Yankees).
