ESPN Preps For Live Coverage Of Special Olympics Opening Ceremony

Television coverage of the Special Olympics starts this weekend across ABC, ESPN and ESPN2, including live coverage of the three-hour Opening Ceremony Saturday night at 9:00pm ET on ESPN. Robin Roberts and Lindsay Czarniak will host ESPN’s coverage. ABC earlier in the day will carry “Countdown to the Special Olympics World Games with Robin Roberts” at 2:30pm. ESPN will run the same show in the run-up to the Opening Ceremony. For ESPN Exec VP/Int'l Russell Wolff, the Opening Ceremony will demonstrate ESPN’s commitment to treating the Special Olympics like a live event. “The every day from July 26 through Aug. 8, we will have a daily show that wraps up and brings to life what happens each day,” Wolff said. “Each day, we will give people a sense of what’s going on in L.A. that day. And we’ll do some amazing storytelling and up-close-and-personal style profiles of the athletes from around the world."
