Top Mavericks Exec Terdema Ussery Leaving After 18 Years For Post At Under Armour

Mavericks President & CEO TERDEMA USSERY on Thursday announced that he "will resign" after 18 years to join Under Armour as President of Global Sports Categories, according to Brad Townsend of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Ussery’s resignation is effective Aug. 30, and UA announced that he "will join" the company Sept. 14 and be based out of its Baltimore HQ. Ussery in a statement said, "It’s been an extraordinary honor to have sat in the CEO’s chair for the past 18 years, and most importantly, the incredible staff I’ve had the privilege of working with in Dallas.” Townsend notes Ussery last July "was one of three finalists" to become NBPA Exec Dir. Prior to joining the Mavericks, Ussery was President of Nike Sports Management from '93-97 (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 7/17). In Baltimore, Jeff Barker notes Ussery while with the Mavs "oversaw the campaign that led to the construction" of American Airlines Center and its naming-rights deal. UA in a statement said Ussery will manage the brand's push to "drive authenticity and connectivity with consumers" (BALTIMORESUN.com , 7/16).
