Independence Bowl Chair Touts Stability In New Camping World Title Sponsorship

Camping World and the Independence Bowl on Thursday officially announced a four-year agreement that "makes Camping World the seventh title sponsor" of the bowl game, which "once again saves the 11th-oldest bowl back from extinction," according to Roy Lang III of the SHREVEPORT TIMES. Independence Bowl Chair Kyle McInnis said, "I’m glad I don’t have to think about that anymore. I’ve got a strong title sponsor, national in scope, with a great crossover appeal to college football fans." Financial terms "weren’t disclosed, but they were predictably 'better'" than other offers the bowl received. McInnis: "I have a confidentiality agreement, but (Camping World’s financial commitment) is comparable to the title sponsors we’ve had in the past -- the traditional title sponsors we’ve had in the past." Lang notes Camping World "takes over following the game’s interesting stint as the Duck Commander Independence Bowl." Duck Commander "never signed a contract and the game didn’t receive the direct dollars typical of a title sponsor." McInnis: "We learned, ‘Get your contract signed and have the traditional bowl sponsorship type of arrangement.'" Lang reports the contract with Camping World "is signed and included a 'look-in' clause after two years." Camping World "was delivered by" Denver-based Impression Sports & Entertainment (SHREVEPORT TIMES, 7/17).
