Mariota Signs With Second Hawaiian Company; Winston Pairs With Local Ford Dealership

Titans QB Marcus Mariota has signed a sponsorship with Honolulu-based Island Insurance, his "second deal with a local company," according to Jason Ubay of the PACIFIC BUSINESS NEWS. Mariota, who has yet to sign with the Titans after being taken with the No. 2 pick, already has a deal with First Hawaiian Bank. Terms of Mariota's sponsorship deal were not disclosed, but Island Insurance Marketing Communications Specialist Sandy Siu said that Mariota will appear "on the company's website starting next week and will appear in TV commercials this fall." Ubay noted in addition to the two Hawaiian companies, Mariota "also has signed deals with Beats by Dre headphones, Nike and Subway" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 7/15). Meanwhile, PRO FOOTBALL TALK's Curtis Crabtree cites a Buccaneers fan blog in reporting that Bucs QB and top-overall draft pick Jameis Winston has "inked a deal with Bill Currie Ford of Tampa to be a part of their 'community involvement' efforts." Bill Currie Ford Community Relations Manager Christy Vannette said that the dealership signed Winston after "asking him questions about his past transgressions." The dealership has similar deals with Bucs QB Mike Glennon and WR Mike Evans and "expects to renew those partnerships as well" (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 7/16).
