Franchise Notes

In Buffalo, Mike Harrington reports the Sabres have announced an "across-the-board hike in box-office and mini-pack prices" for the '15-16 season. Individual tickets "will increase from $2-$7 in four of the five price categories." The Sabres have also "released their game designations for variable pricing, featuring far more expensive games than last year." The variable pricing is "based on opponent, time of year, day of the week, classic rivalries and marquee players." Last year, there was "just one Platinum game (a November contest against Toronto)." This year "there are two, the Oct. 8 season opener" against the Senators that is the "expected debut" of No. 2 overall pick Jack Eichel and the Dec. 19 matinee against the Blackhawks (BUFFALO NEWS, 7/15).

TEAM POLICY
: Titans interim President & CEO Steve Underwood said that the team "won't back off its determination to have offset language" in the contract of QB Marcus Mariota. Offset language "allows teams to recapture guaranteed money if the player is released and signs with another team." Underwood said, "We've always had offset language in our player contracts. It's nothing new. ... So keeping the offset in place is something we want to be able to do going forward. And the minute you back away from the contract principle then you no longer are able to assert it going forward." ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky noted the No. 2 overall pick remains the only '15 first-round pick "yet to sign a contract" (ESPN.com, 7/14).

CAT NIPPED: In Canada, Emma Reilly reports the city of Hamilton and the CFL Tiger-Cats have "resolved a dispute over rental terms at Tim Hortons Field." The agreement will see the club "pay the city $700,000 this year -- which was always to be the amount for the team's first year." In future years, they will pay $1.4M "as part of their licensing agreement with the city" (HAMILTON SPECTATOR, 7/15).
