MLB and the Reds on Sunday "unveiled the renovated All-Star Pediatric Primary Care Center waiting room at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center" to celebrate the All-Star Game. The renovation was "one of 11 local projects" sponsored by the $5M MLB Legacy Program. The redesigned space "includes painted murals, interactive play stations and new signage." MLB and the Reds also "donated a Starlight Fun Center, a mobile entertainment system that can be rolled up to pediatric patients’ hospital beds" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 7/14).

DOWN BY THE WATER: Under Armour Founder, Chair & CEO KEVIN PLANK's real estate firm, Sagamore Development, confirmed Friday that it purchased "about 43 acres of waterfront property" in the Westport area of Baltimore "at a bankruptcy auction earlier this year." The acquisition brings Plank's "publicly known holdings in South Baltimore to nearly 200 acres." Sagamore and its affiliates "have spent" more than $100M "acquiring the properties." The portfolio is "prime property in an area the city has called ripe for rebirth." Sagamore has "promised to lay out its vision for Plank's holdings in a master plan, expected to be presented to the city in August" (Baltimore SUN, 7/14).

BRANCHING OUT: Chinese firm Dalian Wanda has "announced plans for a clutch of new acquisitions and the formation of a financial holding company, as it extends efforts to branch out from real estate." The company yesterday said that it would make six more acquisitions in non-property sectors this year -- "half of them domestic and the other half foreign" -- as part of a major reorganization of its businesses this year" (FINANCIAL TIMES, 7/13).

NAMES: PRESIDENT OBAMA yesterday "granted clemency" to 46 men and women who have "spent years and faced decades in prison for non-violent, drug offenses." Among the prisoners was KATRINA SMITH, mother of Broncos WR DEMARYIUS THOMAS, who will be "freed by Nov. 10" (USA TODAY, 7/14)....The Blue Jackets Foundation "raised a record" $850,000 in donations through its annual grant cycle for initiatives to fight pediatric cancer, grow and support youth hockey and keep kids healthy and safe." That is "up from $800,000 last year and brings the foundation’s total" to $7M since its inception in '00 (BIZJOURNALS.com, 7/13)....Panthers CB CHARLES TILLMAN’s Cornerstone Foundation held an event over the weekend to “benefit lung research and help patients” at the Univ. of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital.
