In Miami, Sam Jacobs profiled MP & Silva Founder & President RICCARDO SILVA, who founded the firm in '04 and now has annual revenues of around $700M and "20 offices around the world." His group "acquires the broadcast rights to sporting events and sells them to local broadcasters." His "latest coup" was getting a five-year deal with the NFL "to market game broadcasts and other NFL programming to 42 countries and territories in Europe." Silva also is a principal owner of the new NASL team "that will begin play in Miami next year" (MIAMI HERALD, 7/12). 

JET SETTER: In N.Y., Bob Raisman named NFL Jets Owner WOODY JOHNSON his "Dude Of The Week." Raissman: "Plenty of arrows have been directed at Johnson the past four years, but here’s a round of applause for his $1 million dollar contribution to building high-tech smart homes for badly injured war vets, one of whom moved in a week ago. That move is worthy of our salute!" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 7/12). Meanwhile, Johnson was among the "hundreds of donors ... who gathered" Friday in Kennebunkport, Maine, for a fundraising event for Republican presidental hopeful JEB BUSH (N.Y. TIMES, 7/11). Johnson was seen "carrying a white visor with the team’s green logo." Admiring a green sweater slung over the shoulders of a fellow donor, Johnson said, “You can never have too much green” (WASHINGTON POST, 7/11).

COURT REPORT: Bills assistant coach AARON KROMER was arrested yesterday in Florida "on a misdemeanor battery charge after allegedly punching a boy in the face and threatening to kill his family." The Bills yesterday in a statement said, "We are aware of the report and in the process of gathering the facts" (ESPN.com, 7/12)....A source said that suspended CONCACAF President JEFF WEBB "has agreed to be extradited" to the U.S. to face corruption charges (REUTERS, 7/10)....Former NFLer WILL ALLEN has been indicted by U.S. Attorney CARMEN ORTIZ for "allegedly operating a fraudulent investment scheme involving loans to professional athletes" (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/11).

NAMES: F1 driver LEWIS HAMILTON was "barred from entering the Royal Box" during yesterday's Wimbledon men's final "because he was not wearing a jacket and tie." On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth.
