Golfers' U.S. Open Attire Ranges From Subtle To Bold, With Outfitters Making Statements

Few golfers at this week's U.S. Open are "likely to get as much camera time" as Jordan Spieth, and Under Armour "seems to have figured out Jordan’s comfort zone to maximize the exposure," according to Marty Hackel of GOLF DIGEST STIX. Each of Spieth's outfits "offers a trim, athletic look." He has enough variety from day to day to "be distinctive, but it’s not overdone or overworked." Rory McIlroy's Nike attire is "strong graphically, clean and bright." This look "has energy but isn’t in your face like the yellow 'volt' color he sported at Augusta." Rickie Fowler for this week's tournament has "stepped up to a new level with his outfits, having thankfully left behind the predictable orange shirts and pants." He has "a lot of effervescence" with his Puma attire. His red pants are "going to look great on TV." For Dustin Johnson, adidas is "opting for a pretty conservative palette" this week. This "makes sense," as Johnson "looks his sharpest when he's dressed in dark, tonal outfits." Bubba Watson's Oakley apparel this week offers a "toned-down look for the usually bold Bubba." Keegan Bradley with his outfits from Travis Mathew "still gets to wear the red, white and blue that was his staple" before joining the brand, but it is "done in a more subtle approach to great effect." Finally, Billy Horschel is once again "dressing very much in tune with his personality." His Ralph Lauren/Polo Golf attire is the "perfect example of how to use bright, bold colors to have fun and make a statement" (GOLF DIGEST STIX, 6/17 issue).
