STREAM OF THOUGHT: In N.Y., Emily Steel wrote “one area of innovation” where James Murdoch, who is expected to be named 21st Century Fox Chair & CEO, has “focused is online streaming and advertising technologies.” When asked whether he would “consider creating a streaming service for some Fox networks that would not require a traditional cable subscription,” Murdoch “mentioned the possibility of a service that included Fox, FX, Fox Sports, Fox News and National Geographic.” He said such a service would be a “very simple, very compelling offering” (N.Y. TIMES, 6/13).

BILL OF SALE: In N.Y. Gary Myers wrote despite NFL teams being required to open mini-camp practices to local media, until now, he had “never heard of a coach banning national media from such a low-key event.” Myers: “Guess which coach won’t let out-of-town reporters at his mini-camp this week? How did you guess it was [Patriots coach Bill] Belichick?” The NFL said that Belichick is “playing by the rules.” Of course, the Patriots are “making an exception for the NFL Network” (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 6/14).

NOTES: In N.Y., Bob Raissman noted CBS in April debuted its portion of “Premier Boxing Champions” with Kevin Harlan “handling the blow-by-blow.” But sources said that the net is “looking to bring in Brian Custer, currently the host of ‘Showtime Championship Boxing.’” Sources said that Custer "is likely to do the blow-by-blow" for "PBC" cards on June 21, July 8 and Sept. 6 (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 6/14)....Writer and media critic Michael Wolff is featured in a N.Y. TIMES MAGAZINE Q&A in which he says that he believes SI is one of five publications that “will be gone within five years” (N.Y. TIMES MAGAZINE, 6/14).
