Redskins Unveil Plan To Reduce FedExField Traffic Congestion For This Season

The Redskins on Friday "unveiled a new parking plan" for FedExField in '15, one the team "says will reduce congestion and confusion on game days," according to Dan Steinberg of the WASHINGTON POST. The new system "will require fans to enter their designated lots from specific access roads." Fans last week were asked to "designate their preferred lots through their online accounts with the team; selections, the team said, will be processed as they’re received." The team said the new system will offer a “more efficient, orderly and organized means of parking cars and moving traffic” and will “allow for a more efficient entry and exit from the stadium." The team also announced the "creation of a new 'RedZone' lot, with a separate entrance and exit, that will open an hour earlier than other lots and feature spaces that are twice as large." Among other changes, the team announced that there "will be an 'increased number of parking staff with improved training,' improved signage on area roads 'to reduce traffic confusion,' resurfaced and re-striped lots 'to help fans with their parking alignment,' and more port-a-potties 'to reduce walking distance and wait time'" (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 6/12).
