Sources: Angels Consider Adjusting Outfield Dimensions To Benefit Trout, Pujols

The Angels "have discussed" adjusting the dimensions of Angel Stadium "to further enhance the ability of their two right-handed sluggers," CF Mike Trout and 1B Albert Pujols, according to sources cited by Ken Rosenthal of FOXSPORTS.com. However, sources said that it is "unlikely they will move in their outfield fences or lower their right-field wall," and that the team "has not requested approval" from the league to change the dimensions. A club spokesperson, "when asked about the possibility, declined to comment." Rosenthal noted several obstacles "would inhibit the Angels from altering the park," including their "uncertain status in Anaheim." The team’s lease "allows it to leave" the city between '16 and ’19 or stay until '29. Obviously, the Angels "would not make any changes in the park -- including an investment in new dimensions -- until the matter was resolved." Other obstacles include the "makeup of the Angels' pitching staff" and the fact that the weather "might depress offense in Anaheim more than the dimensions" (FOXSPORTS.com, 6/11).
