Michigan Football Tickets Selling Fast For First Season Under Jim Harbaugh

The Univ. of Michigan on Wednesday announced that full football season tickets for '15 "are no longer available for purchase" on the same day that it "released information for two separate football ticket packages," according to Nick Baumgardner of MLIVE.com. The school in '14 was "struggling to push out tickets week-to-week," but it "doesn't appear that the Michigan football program will have trouble with ticket sales" in '15, the first season under new coach Jim Harbaugh. All of the school's 81 luxury boxes "have been sold out, and at this point, it appears as though all of the general admission season tickets will be spoken for." A UM spokesperson claimed that it is "too early right now to project overall student season ticket sales numbers, as ticket info was just recently sent out to incoming freshmen." At this point, the only UM football tickets for purchase in '15 "are single-game seats and the two ticket packages." UM also announced that information surrounding the '16 season ticket waiting list "will be unveiled in July" (MLIVE.com, 6/3).

BIG BLUE, BIG BUCKS: UM interim AD Jim Hackett said that he "has a deadline of July 1 to determine which apparel company will land a Michigan contract, which he expects will be 'No. 1 in the country' in terms of being the most lucrative." In Detroit, Angelique Chengelis reports UM is weighing options "from Nike, Under Armour and adidas, with which the athletic department has been associated" since '07. Hackett said, "We've evaluated all three. They're all extraordinary in their own ways, and I learned how extraordinary Michigan is to them. We're starting to see the offers." He said of whether all three proposals are financially competitive, "I would be disappointed if it's not the No. 1 in the country when we're done" (DETROIT NEWS, 6/5).
