Brewers' "Selig Experience" Draws Star-Studded Guest List, Wows With Hologram

The Brewers on Thursday night debuted the "Selig Experience" at Miller Park in honor of former team Owner and MLB Commissioner Bud Selig, and to "realize how big a deal the unveiling" was, "all one had to do was look at the guest list," according to Tom Haudricourt of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. Attendees included Baseball HOFers Hank Aaron and Robin Yount; current MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred; MLB Chief Baseball Officer Joe Torre, Rachel and Sharon Robinson, wife and daughter of late Baseball HOFer Jackie Robinson; Packers President & CEO Mark Murphy; Univ. of Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez and Baseball HOF President Jeff Idelson. Located on Miller Park's loge level in the left-field corner, the "impressive exhibit features an amazingly accurate reproduction of Selig's office during the years the Brewers played at County Stadium." A multimedia presentation in a theater setting "builds to a surprising encounter via hologram with Selig himself in his office." Selig said of the hologram, "This is really special. When the (hologram) came out, people looked at me and said, 'Are you here or are you there?'" California-based BRC Imagination Arts Creative Dir Brad Shelton, whose firm handled the exhibit's design and construction, said, "All the talent in the world, all the most incredible technology in the world is meaningless without a great story. And, man, did we have a great story." Team Owner Mark Attanasio, COO Rick Schlesinger and GM Doug Melvin "all had major roles" in creating the exhibit that guests were able to tour as part of the festivities and that opens to the public Friday night during the team's game versus the D-backs. Selig admitted that he was "overwhelmed by all of it." Selig: "Today was really emotional. People who see it will understand the history, not only of the Brewers and baseball, but of Milwaukee and Wisconsin" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 5/29). MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reported the 1,500-square-foot exhibit "is anchored" by the "12-minute multimedia show narrated by Brewers legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker" (MLB.com, 5/28).
