NBC Sees Rise In Overnights For The Players Championship, But Still Not At Tiger Level

NBC drew a 3.9 overnight for the final round of The Players Championship yesterday, which saw Rickie Fowler win over Kevin Kisner in a sudden-death playoff following a three-hole aggregate playoff that also featured Sergio Garcia. That figure is up 50% from a 2.6 overnight for Martin Kaymer’s one-stroke win over Jim Furyk last year. There was a 90-minute rain delay that factored into last year's tourney. The Players drew a 5.7 overnight for Tiger Woods’ two-stroke win in ’13. Meanwhile, Saturday’s third round on NBC drew a 2.3 overnight, up from a 2.0 last year.

KING FOR A DAY: ABC yesterday afternoon drew a 5.5 overnight for the Cavaliers’ buzzer-beating win over the Bulls in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. That figure is up 31% from a 4.2 for the comparable Thunder-Clippers Game 4 last year. On Saturday, ABC drew a 4.0 overnight for Warriors-Grizzlies Game 3 in primetime, down 7% from a 4.3 for Heat-Nets Game 3 last year.

WHAT DID THE FOX SAY? FS1 drew a 1.5 overnight for the SpongeBob SquarePants 400 from Kansas Speedway on Saturday night, which had a two-hour rain delay (8:45-10:45pm ET) and forced the end of the race to 1:15am. The telecast was FS1’s second regular-scheduled NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. The first race in late March -- the STP 500 from Martinsville Speedway -- drew a 2.5 overnight on a Sunday afternoon.
