Wichita State AD Eric Sexton Remains In Charge Of Department Following Promotion

Wichita State AD Eric Sexton yesterday was promoted to VP/Student Affairs & Exec AD, a move which "hands daily responsibility for the athletic department to Darron Boatright," who was promoted from Senior Associate AD to Deputy AD & COO, according to Paul Suellentrop of the WICHITA EAGLE. Boatright "reports to Sexton," who "remains in charge of the athletic department." Sexton will continue to "hire and fire head coaches and department heads" and "represent WSU at Missouri Valley Conference meetings, unless his schedule interferes, as has been the case." Boatright said, "He sets our policy. He sets our direction. He continues to lead the ship.” Boatright "oversees men’s basketball and baseball and supervises areas such as marketing, tickets and fund-raising." He will "add duties involving areas such as compliance, academics, the business office and facilities to his responsibilities." Sexton and Boatright both said that the department's structure "will not change noticeably." Suellentrop notes senior staff members "will continue to oversee sports and departments" (WICHITA EAGLE, 4/22).
