Sources: ESPN, College Football Analyst Lou Holtz Mutually Agree To Part Ways

ESPN "has parted ways" with college football analyst Lou Holtz, who had been with the net since '04, "most notably" with Rece Davis and Mark May, according to Richard Deitsch of SI.com. Holtz worked as an analyst on "Saturday College Football Final," and sources said that the decision "was closer to a mutual agreement between the parties than Holtz getting forced out." Holtz, 78, last May said that he "would retire from broadcasting after the 2014 season though at the time the network said Holtz had not informed them of such thinking." With Holtz gone and Rece Davis moving to "College GameDay," Deitsch expects ESPN to "significantly retool its college football afternoon studio setup" (SI.com, 4/12). In Birmingham, Cheryl Wray also noted ESPN's college football coverage next season "will look decidedly different" (AL.com, 4/12).
