Spring Training Attendance Up From '14; Aided By A's Renovations, O's/Pirates Records

MLB teams averaged 7,534 fans for Spring Training dates across the Grapefruit and Cactus Leagues in '15, up around 3% from last year. The Cactus League drew 1.89 million fans this year, breaking the previous record of 1.73 million set in '13. The Cubs led all MLB clubs with an average of 14,549 fans per game at Sloan Park in Mesa, up 2% from '14. The A's saw the biggest gains from '14, up 42% at a renovated Hohokam Stadium. The Yankees again led all Grapefruit League clubs, while the Mets saw the biggest gains (+12%) with co-Owner Fred Wilpon hanging around camp. The Orioles saw a slight increase in attendance, setting a new high for crowds in Sarasota. A new record was also set at McKechnie Field for Pirates Spring Training games. The Red Sox extended their sellout streak at JetBlue Park in Ft. Myers to 63 games, dating back to the opening of the ballpark in '12 (THE DAILY).
