Islanders Tickets Selling Well For First Season At Barclays Center In '15-16

Islanders tickets for the '15-16 season are "selling well" ahead of the team's first year at Barclays Center, according to Neil Best of NEWSDAY. Islanders ticket options "vary widely, up to $1,000 a game for the rows directly behind and adjacent to the team benches," while some upper-level tickets "can be had for $35 per game." It appears that "many more seats have been sold than remain available in most sections" of the arena (NEWSDAY, 3/18). Meanwhile, YAHOO SPORTS' Eric Adelson noted Islanders fans are "coming to the Nassau Coliseum in a way they haven't in a while -- 20 sellouts this season is the most in nearly 15 years -- for both nostalgic reasons and because the team is actually quite good." GM Garth Snow’s moves have "positioned the team in a spot where it will be watchable once it moves to Barclays Center." The Islanders have the fourth-best record in the Eastern Conference, and are led by "a certified star" in C John Tavares. After "decades of mistakes," the team is "finally showing glimpses" of charm again. But Adleson wondered, "How long will this charmed stretch buoy the team in Brooklyn?" The heart of the fan base "is still in Long Island, and those fans will be asked to commute a long way to see their team in Brooklyn." This year's Stanley Cup Playoffs "are a curtain call in one sense, but a Broadway audition in another" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 3/16).
