MSG President & CEO Tad Smith Leaving After Just Over A Year For Top Sotheby's Job

MSG Co. President & CEO TAD SMITH today resigned his position to take the same job at Sotheby’s. Smith assumed his position with MSG in March ’14, overseeing all aspects of the company following the departure of HANK RATNER. Smith was previously Cablevision Systems President of Local Media. His position at MSG had him overseeing overall strategy, as well as day-to-day operations of MSG Sports, MSG Media and MSG Entertainment. Smith will remain with MSG until the end of the month as the company commences an immediate search for a successor. He will begin at Sotheby’s on March 31 (THE DAILY). The WALL STREET JOURNAL's Chelsey Dulaney reports MSG Chair JAMES DOLAN is "overseeing the company's activities in the interim." Smith's departure comes as MSG "explores breakup scenarios, including separating its entertainment business from its media and sports operations" (WSJ.com, 3/16).
