McDonald's Leveraging Hot Streak For Senators Netminder Nicknamed "The Hamburglar"

Senators G Andrew Hammond, now 10-0-1 in his first 11 NHL starts, "has been told he has a special card coming that will allow him to eat free McDonald’s food for life," according to Wayne Scanlan of the OTTAWA CITIZEN. Hammond, who has an image of the brand's "Hamburglar" character painted on his mask, said of the card, "I'm waiting to see it, but that's what I've heard." A fan following last night's win over the Flyers "tossed" a burger onto the ice toward Hammond, who fans and the media have nicknamed "The Hamburglar" (OTTAWA CITIZEN, 3/16). Hammond: "If the hockey thing doesn't work out at least I've got a meal plan" (TSN.ca, 3/15). The NATIONAL POST's Michael Traikos reported a Senators promotion earlier this month "allowed fans to redeem their tickets" from the team's March 6 game against the Sabres "for a free McDonald’s burger." An Ottawa-based radio station "even wrote a song, the Ballad of the Hamburglar, to the tune of Billy Idol’s White Wedding" (NATIONALPOST.com, 3/11).
