CSN Philadelphia Launching Weekday Sports Talk Show On Sister Station

CSN Philadelphia will “launch a morning show next month on sister station The Comcast Network, a weekday two-hour sports chat show called ‘Breakfast on Broad,’ or BOB,” according to Jeff Blumenthal of the PHILADELPHIA BUSINESS JOURNAL. The show “seems like a combination of NBC’s “Today” and ABC’s “The View” with “a quartet of hosts bantering about the latest development in local sports.” The show features former WIP-FM host Rob Ellis, former WCAU-NBC reporter Jillian Mele, CSN Philly reporter Sarah Baicker and former NFLer Barrett Brooks. The show will “air live weekdays” beginning April 6 from 6:00-8:00am ET (BIZJOURNALS.com, 3/11). In Philadelphia, Molly Eichel noted "BOB" is “set to have a conversational tone and will include morning news staples like traffic and weather.” It is a “new foray into original programming” for The Comcast Network, rebranded from CN8 in ‘09. The show “aims to avoid the straight-news feel of ‘SportsNet Central,’ the current Comcast SportsNet local morning news show, which will continue to air.” The intent of the new program is to “favor opinion and discussion.” Ellis said, “It’s like radio on television because of the opinion-driven content” (PHILLY.com, 3/11).
