Mavs' Chandler Parsons Swaps Anta Shoes For Jordan Brand After Injuries To Ankle

Mavericks F Chandler Parsons, who has a five-year, $5M deal with Chinese shoe company Anta, "wore Jordan Brand sneakers with the logos covered" during the team's win over the Lakers on Sunday "because of concerns that his shoes contributed to the sprain and bone bruise to his left ankle," according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN DALLAS. Parsons said, "I just am trying to figure out if it was one of the shoes that I was wearing that bothered me. I just wanted to fix them and make them stiffer. The injury that I had, (Mavs athletic trainer Casey Smith) was telling me how (the Anta shoes) were a little too flexible in the ankle." Parsons met with Anta reps last week in Portland, and the company "agreed to alter his shoes to meet specifications suggested by Smith." Sources said that Parsons can "opt out of his shoe contract after next season." Other NBAers who endorse Anta include Mavericks G Rajon Rondo, T'Wolves F Kevin Garnett, Warriors G Klay Thompson and Pacers F Luis Scola (ESPNDALLAS.com, 3/8).
