Prospective Las Vegas NHL Team Now Only 2,000 Shy Of Targeted Season-Ticket Deposits

Hockey Vision Las Vegas, the prospective NHL ownership group led by Fidelity National Financial Chair William Foley, yesterday announced that deposits "for more than 8,000 season tickets have been secured since the campaign launched Feb. 10," according to Ray Brewer of the LAS VEGAS SUN. The group is "aiming for deposit money for 10,000 season tickets." The drive "doesn’t include luxury suites," as the group "already had commitments for half of the 44 luxury suites at $150,000 to $250,000 per suite." All eight "of the bunker suites, or event-level suites, were sold" for $1.1M (LAS VEGAS SUN, 3/10). YAHOO SPORTS' Greg Wyshynski noted the group "had 5,000 deposits within the first 36 hours of launching it on Feb. 10." There are "a couple of ways to read this slow, steady progress," the first of which is that the goal "should have been met by now." However, the NHL is "completely fine with these numbers, because it’s a collection of 'real fans' and not the casinos and corporations that the League knows will sell out the building every night." However, the jury "is still out" as to whether "there are enough" hockey fans in Las Vegas (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 3/9).
