Mets Fan Targets Wilpons, Katz With "Ya Gotta Leave" Billboard Near Spring Training Home

A Mets fan "has put his displeasure with the team's ownership on full display," paying to have a billboard "with the message 'Fred, Jeff & Saul, Ya Gotta Leave,' erected on Interstate 95, about eight miles north of Tradition Field, the Mets spring training home," according to the AP. The billboard "is blue with white and orange lettering -- Mets colors," and the message "is aimed at" team co-Owners Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz, and COO Jeff Wilpon. Gary Palumbo, the fan behind the billboard, said that he "raised $7,000 for two similar billboards near Citi Field in Queens" but had money left over because they "cost approximately $5,000." The Florida billboard is "scheduled to come down on April 2," the team's final Spring Training day (AP, 3/4). In Florida, Jon Santucci noted the billboard after Palumbo's on I-95 is "an orange Mets billboard, promoting spring training tickets" (TCPALM.com, 3/4).

HARVEY'S DENT: TCPALM.com's Santucci noted the Mets, "aided by big-name opponents and the return" of P Matt Harvey, are "looking at possible sellouts in two of their first three Grapefruit League games at Tradition Field." Mets Florida Operations Dir Paul Taglieri said that standing-room-only tickets are all that are left for tomorrow's game against the Tigers and Sunday's game against the Red Sox, while "limited seats are available" on Saturday against the Braves. Taglieri: "I don’t know that this is a first, but it’s been a long time that we’ve had two sellouts in the first week of spring games." He added that games against the Cardinals on March 20 and Yankees on March 22 "have very limited tickets available" (TCPALM.com, 3/4).
