Comcast yesterday announced that it will serve as a primary sponsor for Joe Gibbs Racing's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series No. 19 Toyota driven by Carl Edwards for four races in '15. Edwards' car for Sunday's Kobalt 400 in Las Vegas will feature a Comcast Business paint scheme, marking the first major sponsorship deal for that part of the corporation. Comcast also will be the primary sponsor April 19 at Bristol, Sept. 27 at New Hampshire and Nov. 1 at Martinsville (Comcast).

ELECTRIC SLIDE: Florida Power & Light has signed on as the official solar energy provider of the March 14 Formula E Miami ePrix. Andretti Sports Marketing, organizer of the Miami ePrix, secured the deal with FP&L. FP&L's deal with the Miami ePrix is initially only for this year's event, but Andretti Sports Marketing CEO & Chair Michael Andretti said that FP&L is doing a long-term deal pending the series' return to Miami (HJ Mai, SBD Global).

WANT TO RIDE MY BIKE: In Minneapolis, Erin Golden reports organizers of the North Star Bicycle Festival are a "making a last-minute plea to sponsors as they try to launch" the race for a 16th year. Organizers were "almost ready to pull the plug on the series because of a lack of funds." Event Exec Dir David LaPorte said that North Star is "facing an uphill battle" two years after General Mills' Nature Valley brand "pulled out of the race" (Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE, 3/3).
