Curry, Newton, Kaepernick, Cruz Among Celebs Preaching Consumption Of Fruits, Vegetables

A campaign from the Partnership for a Healthier America launched Thursday has enlisted Warriors G Stephen Curry, Giants WR Victor Cruz, Panthers QB Cam Newton and 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick, among other celebs, "to shill for fruits and vegetables," according to Candice Choi of the AP. The campaign "works with private companies and was created in conjunction with first lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! initiative to get families to eat better and exercise." Created by Colorado-based Victors & Spoils, the ad campaign is being called "FNV," which is "intended to be a catchier way to refer to 'fruits and vegetables.'" The campaign will begin "primarily be on social media networks like Twitter," with short videos featuring actress Jessica Alba, Kaepernick and Newton. Additional videos "will be released in coming days" starring Curry, Cruz and others. Among those "providing financial and other support for FNV" are Campbell Soup Co.'s Bolthouse Farms, which makes premium juices and bagged carrots, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Alba's Honest Company and the Produce Marketing Association -- a "trade group whose members include Sunkist, Dole, Wal-Mart, and Chick-fil-A" (AP, 2/26).
