Big 12's Bowlsby Made $2.5M In '13-14, Corresponding With League's Revenue Boost

Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby made approximately $2.5M "in total compensation" during '13-14, according to a federal tax return cited by Jon Solomon of CBSSPORTS.com. Bowlsby "received $2,280,497 in reportable compensation from the Big 12 and an estimated $214,888 in other pay from the organization and related organization." Bowlsby "received more money than SEC commissioner Mike Slive," who made $2.1M in total pay last year. The 10-team Big 12 conference reported that its annual revenue increased by $10.6M to $225.9M during the most recent fiscal year that ended June 30, 2014. It also stated that its TV contract revenue from '13-14 increased by 6% to $139.7M. Bowl game revenue was up 4% to $42.6M. NCAA revenue distributed to the conference was up 5% to $37.3 million. The Big 12's "average payout to its schools" was $19.8M, up from $18.6M a year earlier. Every Big 12 school received approximately $21M last year, "except for TCU and West Virginia, who don't start collecting a full share" until '15-16. TCU received $14.3M and West Virginia took in $14.2M (CBSSPORTS.com, 2/25).
