Auburn's '14-15 Budget To Be Nearly $114M After Record Revenue Of $108M

Auburn's athletic budget for FY '14-15 "will rise" to $113.9M, up 8.4% from the "projected budget" in '13-14, according to Brandon Marcello of the BIRMINGHAM NEWS. Auburn's FY runs from July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2015, and revenue is "expected to reach an all-time high" at $108.2M. Football is "carrying most of the weight with a projected revenue stream" of $81.5M -- up more than $9M year over year. Auburn's "projected revenues from the SEC and multimedia rights" is $32.3M, up 16.8%. Tickets sales "are expected to jump slightly" to $29.6M, while "priority seats and gifts are projected to drop" 2.4% to $29.7M (BIRMINGHAM NEWS, 2/12). Meanwhile, in Georgia, Ryan Black noted Auburn will "have the largest scoreboard in college football" by the time the '15 season starts. But AD Jay Jacobs said that it is "just the first step in what he hopes are wholesale changes at Jordan-Hare Stadium." That includes "expanding the concourse on the north end of the stadium, adding more premium seating and building a new home locker room and recruiting lounge." Jacobs hopes that the "improved fan experience at the stadium will bring in even more revenue." If that happens, he can "turn his attention" to the school's athletic complex. Jacobs "made sure to emphasize that any work that might be done to the athletic complex is well down the road." He said that financial numbers "haven't even been discussed" (Columbus LEDGER-ENQUIRER, 2/10).
