The SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS reported Silicon Valley Power will partner with California-based DAS Group Professionals to install a $2M wireless system near Levi's Stadium to "alleviate phone and data congestion before the stadium hosts" Super Bowl 50 (MERCURYNEWS.com, 2/6).

POLAR OPPOSITES: In Milwaukee, Don Walker in a front-page piece noted the Warriors' plan for a new arena is a "contrast to what the Bucks have in mind." Since the new Bucks ownership regime came in, they have said that their "vision of an arena with additional retail, commercial and residential development nearby will need significant public financing." Meanwhile, Warriors co-Owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber have "sidestepped San Francisco's history of taxpayer opposition to funding stadiums and arenas" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 2/8).

BIGGER IS BETTER: In Alabama, Alex Byington reported the Auburn BOT on Friday "unanimously approved" a $13.9M upgrade to the video scoreboard in the south end zone of Jordan-Hare Stadium. The new, 200-foot scoreboard will be the "largest video board in college football" and will cost about $3.5M. Along with the scoreboard, the project will include "new ribbon boards along the upper deck of the stadium and a new sound and public announcement system" (OPELIKA-AUBURN NEWS, 2/7).

RESTED DEVELOPMENT: In Ft. Worth, Susan Schrock reported Dallas-based developer Citizens Capital is "seeking investors for a multimillion-dollar project it says would bring hotels, restaurants and retail, apartment complexes and more south of AT&T Stadium." Citizens Capital CEO Billy Hawkins on Friday said that he "anticipates closing" on the 28.5-acre bank-owned property "within the next 90 days." He added that the developer is selling $30M "in bonds, half of which would help it buy the Arlington entertainment district property and jump-start the planning and initial construction stages" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 2/7).
