Coates Golf Makes Splash At PGA Merch Show, Season-Opening LPGA Event

Florida-based Coates Golf began selling its product for the first time this week at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, but before it "put a single club up for sale," the brand "had already inked a deal" to title-sponsor the season-opening LPGA event of '15, according to Beth Ann Nichols of GOLFWEEK. Coates' products include golf bags, towels, gloves and hats, and a full women's apparel line that "will launch this fall." Company co-Founders Mollie and Randall Coates chose an "antelope as the company logo because female antelopes grow horns just like males." A theme of "empowerment and equality runs throughout the Coates brand, which is one reason all Coates equipment is black." Mollie Coates said that this "didn't mean future lines won't include more color ... but for now they're sticking with the very regal look of black and gold." Coates signed Symetra Tour player Alexandria Jacobsen, who "appears in the company’s print ads and commercials, to play their equipment" (GOLFWEEK.com, 1/21).
