Back For Seconds: Quaker Oats Extends Jersey Sponsorship Deal With MLS' Fire

The Fire and jersey sponsor Quaker Oats "are staying together," as the Chicago-based company extended its partnership, "keeping Quaker on the front of the franchise’s jersey after their previous deal had expired," according to sources cited by Brian Sandalow of the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES. Quaker and the Fire originally joined together in '12 on a three-year deal that "was reportedly worth" around $8M to the club. Terms of the extension were not available. Fire execs this offseason "already secured a naming-rights deal with The PrivateBank for their new north side training center and also reached a multi-million dollar agreement with Heineken for it to become the team’s official domestic, import and cider beer." But getting the jersey sponsorship done "was the most important job left for the franchise’s financial side." The shirt sponsorship "is a lucrative source of income for the club and brings the Fire in line with most of the rest of the soccer world." Quaker Oats "is a major presence around the Fire and their website." Toyota Park also "has the 'Quaker Corner' seating section, and the iconic Quaker logo is prominent wherever the Fire go." During games, there "are reminders that the Fire are 'fueled' by Quaker" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 1/17).
