Wix.com Taps Former Pro Bowlers To Star In Company's Debut Super Bowl Ad

The debut Super Bowl ad from Tel Aviv-based website development company Wix.com will feature five former NFL All Pros -- Larry Allen, Brett Favre, Franco Harris, Terrell Owens and Emmitt Smith -- moving beyond their playing days and starting new careers. The players will be shown as small business owners and pursuing what a release calls "humorous endeavors" that build upon their personalities. The #ItsThatEasy campaign is via Committee, L.A. (Wix.com). In Israel, Debra Kamin reports the campaign, which "trumpets Wix's streamlined, simple-to-use software for creating a personal or business website," will show the players "finding some help in their new careers by creating a Wix personal website." The company "plans to release all five websites created for the five stars' business ventures in the days leading up" to Super Bowl XLIX. A central website will include "products, interactive events with the players and design secrets." Fans will be able to buy "souvenirs and learn more about the company's website design options" (TIMES OF ISRAEL, 1/7).

FRESH PRODUCE
: VARIETY's Brian Steinberg reported Avocados from Mexico will run a "single 30-second spot at the end of the first quarter." No previews of the ad will be made available prior to the game. Other vendors of "good-for-you foods have joined past Super Bowl frays -- Wonderful Pistachios tapped Stephen Colbert as its spokesman for two Super Bowl ads last year." But Avocados from Mexico said that it is the "first fresh produce to advertise in the game." The avocado marketer "did not disclose the ad agency that created its spot" (VARIETY.com, 1/6).

CANDY CRUSH: ADWEEK's Noreen O'Leary noted the Super Bowl debut of Skittles "comes with a teaser campaign from Olson Engage." The ad "shows a Skittles-filled tailgate party in the vacant University of Phoenix Stadium parking lot, four weeks before the game in Glendale, Ariz." and uses former NFLer Kurt Warner. The teaser tag says "Super Bowl XLIX is about to get awesomer." The spot "is being created by the brand's agency, DDB Chicago" (ADWEEK.com, 1/6).
