Cowboys Fans Gobble Up Tickets For First Playoff Appearance In Five Years

The Cowboys' Wild Card game against the Lions, the club's first playoff appearance in five years, is "suddenly the hottest ticket in town," according to Gordon Dickson of the FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM. Tickets for Sunday's game went on sale yesterday at 12:00pm CT, and in "a little more than an hour the cheapest seats -- $35 standing room-only Party Passes -- were all gobbled up." Tickets on the Cowboys website "started at $165 per ticket" yesterday at 4:30pm. StubHub yesterday also "featured hundreds" of Lions-Cowboys tickets, with the "most expensive" being a Hall of Fame suite listing for $26,710. A Ring of Honor suite also "was advertised for $16,246." A line "at least 150 people deep snaked around the stadium’s exterior" from 12:00pm until just after 1:00pm, "when a ticket office employee was met with a chorus of groans after announcing the cheapest tickets were sold out." A handful of patrons "had camped out at the stadium overnight, braving near-freezing temperatures" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 12/30).

READY TO PACK THEM IN: ESPN.com's Rob Demovsky reported a year after the Packers "needed help from a local business to sell out the wild-card playoff game" against the 49ers, they "sold out the Jan. 11 divisional playoff game at Lambeau Field without any trouble." Season-ticket holders "scooped up all the available tickets for the divisional playoff game against an opponent to be determined" (ESPN.com, 12/29). Meanwhile, a Colts official said that the team has "about 7,500 tickets left" for Sunday's Wild Card matchup against the Bengals at Lucas Oil Stadium and "must sell them" by Thursday at 1:00pm ET to lift the local television blackout (INDYSTAR.com, 12/29).

FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS: The Steelers yesterday said that they "have been overwhelmed" with calls from season-ticket holders "having problems printing out playoff tickets" through an e-mail sent by the team for Saturday’s Wild Card game against the Ravens. The team said that "all remaining tickets for the game have been sold." The Steelers, which for the first time sent an e-mail "for season ticket holders with a link to print their tickets at home, is advising them to carefully follow the printing instructions" included in the e-mail (POST-GAZETTE.com, 12/29).
