Jim Rome's Show On CBS Sports Network Ending, But He Will Remain With The Company

CBS is ending Jim Rome's daily show on CBS Sports Network, "Rome." The decision is being described as mutual, and Rome will stay with CBS and focus on other radio and TV projects. CBS will continue to produce the show through late March, but the show's staff was told this week that the its two-year run is coming to an end. CBS Sports President David Berson said, "Together with Jim, we decided to shift focus and produce new projects across CBS Sports Network in place of the daily TV show 'Rome.' Jim remains a valuable member of the CBS Sports family, continuing his daily show on CBS Sports Radio, his program on Showtime and his contributions to CBS Sports properties including 'The NFL Today' and NCAA Men's Basketball Championship." CBS launched the 30-minute daily show in April '12 amid a strategy to increase the number of live hours on the channel. CBSSN is not Nielsen rated, so the size of Rome's TV audience is not available. The show occupied the 6:00pm ET weekday timeslot. Rome: "While I am sad to say goodbye to a show that I am really proud of, I look forward to our fourth season of 'Jim Rome on Showtime,' 'The Jim Rome Show' on CBS Sports Radio, continued contributions for 'The NFL Today' and the NCAA Basketball Tournament and the numerous opportunities this partnership continues to provide."
