In N.Y., Ben Shpigel reports NFL Jets Owner Woody Johnson has "made inroads for a potential overhaul," as he is "dissatisfied with what could be the team’s worst season in almost 20 years." A source said that if Johnson "elects to make changes," he will hire former NFL GM Charley Casserly "as a consultant." Casserly "would only guide Johnson through the search process." He "would not have a role in evaluating" current Jets head coach Rex Ryan, GM John Idzik "or any aspect" of the '14 season (N.Y. TIMES, 12/23). Also in N.Y., Gary Myers reports Johnson "also contacted" former NFL GMs Bill Polian and Ernie Accorsi to form what would have been "the Dream Team of Jets advisors." However, Polian’s job at ESPN "precluded him from working for the Jets even in a temporary job and Accorsi wanted to limit his role to being a member of the NFL’s advisory committee" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 12/23).

KINGS IN COURT: In Sacramento, Kasler & Lillis report local lobbying firm Platinum Advisors CEO Darius Anderson is suing NBA Kings Managing Partner Vivek Ranadive and team investor Mark Mastrov, "saying they reneged on pledges to let him invest in the team." Anderson was "instrumental in keeping" the Kings in the city. His suit "demands unspecified monetary damages and an order establishing his 'rightful share of the ownership of the Kings.'" Kings Senior Dir of Communications Laura Braden said that Anderson "has already made money from his effort." Anderson and his partners "sold Downtown Plaza, site of the new Kings arena, to the team last year" for a $15M profit (SACRAMENTO BEE, 12/23).

GIVE ME YOUR TOTS: The FINANCIAL TIMES' Roger Blitz reported Qatar "appears to be interested" in the EPL, and one club "catching its eye is Tottenham Hotspur." The Qataris' interest in the club "has been stimulated" by London Mayor Boris Johnson (FT.com, 12/19).
