France Confirms No Major Changes Planned For Sprint Cup Chase In '15

NASCAR Chair & CEO Brian France yesterday confirmed that there will not be any major changes to the Chase for the Sprint Cup format in '15 following a year that saw an uptick in TV ratings and an increase of coverage by mainstream media outlets. Appearing on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, France said, “We’re obviously pleased with everything and there may be some adjustments down the road. They’ll be very small, nothing for ’15 (and) nothing anybody would notice. If we can make an already great thing better, we will always look at that. But we’re very content that we have the right positioning of elevating the drivers to have moments (like what occurred this season) and then also balancing this whole thing in auto racing … which is how do you balance winning and consistency. They don’t necessarily always go together. And, how do you have any kind of a championship run that represents that? I think we’ve done the best job we think we can do to balance that” (SiriusXM, 12/10).
